200 TREES EACH YEAR

AIDING IN OUR DAILY PURSUIT OF COMBATING CARBON EMISSIONS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE.

WHAT IMPACT DO HAIR SALONS HAVE ON THE ENVIRONMENT ?

  • Hair-dryers contribute between 500 & 1300 grams of CO2 an hour to the atmosphere. THAT'S 25 kilograms C02 every year!

An average dryer uses 0.018 kilowatt-hours of electricity for 30 seconds, or around 2,200 watts of power total to run. This means that for one day, approximately 26.61 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions for usage to dry three times.

According to National Geographic hair dryers emit, on average, 57 lbs. of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every year.

  • The beauty industry produces over 421,000 pounds of waste daily while stylists experience deadly effects. This shouldnโ€™t be the reality.

This year alone, salons across the United States will contribute more than 150 million pounds of un-recycled foil, toxic chemical waste, and plastic bottles to landfills and water systems.

With 59 percent of Americans receiving hair services more than four times a year, there is a staggering increase in the average carbon footprint as it relates to the beauty industry.

  • Each time a stylist washes their clientโ€™s hair, more than 45 gallons of water are contaminated and with an average of 12 clients a day - water waste in the salon industry is outrageous.

Our first, most important step for reducing the usage was the installation of water-saving fixtures and environmentally shampoo bowl heads that not only double water pressure but reduce water and energy output by 65 percent.
