HAIR COLOR

  • (หˆblษ‘ndษชล‹) noun. the act or method of dyeing or tinting hair blond. true-to-life blondings that defy detection.

Going blonde can be a fun change to make to your look. But itโ€™s not quite as easy as it sounds. After all, the process varies by hair type and color. But donโ€™t worry โ€” youโ€™re in the right place.

If you want to take your dark hair light, then itโ€™s time to consider blonding. As the name implies, blonding is the process of dyeing your hair any shade of blonde.

However, itโ€™s not as simple as breaking out a box of dye and heading to the bathroom. Whether itโ€™s honey, platinum, or strawberry, blonding can be a complex process if youโ€™re going from dark to light. Lightening hair poses a lot of challenges.

If you donโ€™t do it right, blonding could leave you with orange, purple, or ashy hair thatโ€™s anything but flattering.

The various ways of blonding are as follows:

    -Foils

    -Baby Highlights

    -Ombrรฉ

    -Balayage

    -Face Framing

    -Full Head

  • Balayage is a French word that means โ€œto sweep.โ€ In this hair color technique, highlights are hand-painted or โ€œsweptโ€ on the surface of random sections of hair. Dye or lightener is usually painted on, starting mid-shaft and becoming denser as it moves down the section of hair to the ends. Itโ€™s a Boulder Hair Collective speciality and stylist fav.

Balayage allows for a sun-kissed, natural looking hair colour, with softer, less noticeable roots. The principal idea being less is more when creating a natural, multi-tonal finish. The technique uses patches of light and shade to create multiple dimensions to the colour.

Balayage is quite different to traditional highlights, because no foil is used and the colour is painted on freehand. The finished result is โ€˜less uniform than typical highlightsโ€™ says Richard Ward. If youโ€™ve ever been worried about having stripey colour after a visit to the hairdresser's, balayage is a sure way to avoid that harsh contrast between colours โ€“ especially if youโ€™re going blonder.

The colour created is totally bespoke to you and can even be placed in a way to compliment or distract attention away from certain features on the face. Itโ€™s a great method if you want to refresh your colour but donโ€™t want a bold overhaul of your look.

  • Hair highlighting/lowlighting is changing a person's hair color, using lightener or haircolor to lift the level or brightness of hair strands.

There are four basic types of highlights: foil highlights, hair painting, frosting, and chunking.

Highlights can be any color, as long as it is a lighter level than the surrounding hair. Hair lightened with bleach or permanent color will be permanent until new growth begins to show.

Highlighted hair can make the hair appear fuller. Therefore, it is sometimes recommended for people with thin and fine hair. It also a recommended service for achieving better color balance with people that have at least 50% gray, and it also helps to diminish the line of demarcation once the new growth is showing from permanent hair color.

  • A root touch-up the application of hair dye to the roots of the hair, to conceal the fact that hair has grown out. This will enable your hair color to not only last longer but also continue to look fresh and beautiful.

As the name states a root touch up is coloring only the root grow out of your hair, where you do not have any hair color. When having a touch up done it is important to use the same shade and the same color as your original full hair color to blend well and not leave another unsightly demarcation line as one color meets another, different, color. This will ensure that you have consistent color through out your hair.

A root touch up is a great way to save money as well, as it elongates the time between full services by several weeks. Although a root touch up will not refresh the full length of your hair color, there are other services that can give you that benefit, it will however give you coverage and keep your hair looking natural and attractive between treatments.

Refreshing the ends of your hair is also very important. The ends of your hair can become faded and dull after frequent shampooing, the lightening power of the sun and everyday hair styling. When you have your roots touched up, the stylist can refresh the ends of your hair at the same time.

If you are a new client to The Collective, its important you schedule a consultation first, this way we are set up for success, from the start.

PERMANENT COLOR

Permanent color is what most people think of when they think โ€œhaircolorโ€. Permanent haircolor is mixed with a developer which opens up the cuticle of the hair to deposit the color molecules. There is no such thing as truly permanent color; all color fades to some extent, but this type of color has the most longevity and covers grey hair. This is also the most difficult kind to get back out of the hair if you want to change it later.

BALAYAGE

BLEACH & TONE

Going for that platinum look? Bleach & Tones will get you there! Less dimension than a highlight but not any less beautiful. We will bleach every hair on your head, then tone it to your desired tone. Consultation Required.

COLOR CORRECTION
